This trail begins heading north alongside the western bank of Crystal Lake. It remains relatively flat and easy to manage up until it intersects with the Wetlands Trail. Most foot traffic tends to tail off at this point, as the lake/creek-side path gives way to a heavily wooded area. This portion of the trail is speckled with tree roots and fallen debris and is slightly more difficult to maneuver. The end portion of the trail contains several markers for camp sites; an indication that the trail with soon be coming to an end.

Hikers will more than likely spot fish along the lake's edge. Those who are lucky may spot a water snake or turtle. The eastern half of the trail is largely devoid of land animals due to heavy foot traffic. The western half attracts lots of birds, especially robins and other bug-consuming species. There are several species of trees, but few flowering plants.
