Description
Prey Meadows Trail is a wonderful option for those wishing to experience spring wildflowers on their way to, or back from, a relaxing day at Skunk Harbor.
Starting at the junction with the
Skunk Harbor Trail, hop on the smooth-treaded doubletrack as it winds its way through coniferous forests for approximately 1.5 miles before reaching Prey Meadows.
In Prey Meadows, take time to sit down, perhaps enjoy a picnic lunch, and soak up this beautiful little piece of Humboldt Toiyabe National Forest that lies tucked away amidst the housing developments along the lake.
While the doubletrack road continues on to the USFS land boundary, most people turn back after enjoying the meadow. Past the meadow, the scenery surrounding the road is less appealing, and the tread gets a bit rougher. The real highlight of the route is the first portion.
Flora & Fauna
Wildflowers can be abundant here during the spring.
