Family Friendly A short and relatively easy trail that goes right down to the water.

Description

Take a trip down to Skunk Harbor to enjoy a relaxing lakeside experience amidst sand and seclusion. If you're looking for solitude, this is the perfect place to find some peace and quiet.

After dropping your car at the Prey Meadows-Skunk Harbor Parking Area, pass through the forest service gate and follow the fire road as it meanders back and forth along the hillside. Almost a half-mile into the journey, a junction appears with the Prey Meadows trail. For those wishing to augment their lakeshore journey with abundant wildflowers and pristine meadows, adding a trip to Prey Meadows is a must.

After passing the junction, continue down the dirt road for another mile or so until finally, after long last, you reach the icy blue waters of Lake Tahoe and its surreal shoreline.

Nice, short there-and-back to skunk harbor. Some cool cabins at the harbor. The parking is up along the 28 and the road can be easy to miss. 3mi
