Need to Know
The trail itself is a gradual climb and can get crowded on holiday weekends but still enjoyable. Bring supplies as the nearest town is a good 20 minutes away. If you decide to go close to the river edge, be wary of the steep drops.
Description
On this trail you can look out over the dramatic landscape and unique geology of the rock canyon as the Pedernales River slowly carves through the bare rock.
This route starts close to a parking area and is part of the
Pedernales Falls Trail System at the northern side of the park. It allows you to see the top portion of the Pedernales River with gradual climb to the top of the scenic overlook with a small trail to hike down to the edge if you are feeling adventurous. The trail has a few benches along the way for those who are just getting started with hiking, or who need a short rest along the way.
