The kids will love climbing to the top of Enchanted Rock and exploring the area.
Description
A fairly straight-forward trail up the rock. It has moderately steep sections, but is a fairly short hike. There is no shade on this trail at all, and it can be very hot in the summer. It can also be very windy. There are great views of the surrounding hill country from the peak.
The trail is mostly solid granite with some crushed, loose granite at the start of the trail. A wet weather creek crosses the trail at the start. Once you start climbing the rock, the trail is not clearly marked, just simply continue hiking up the peak, and it is impossible to lose your way.
Flora & Fauna
Plenty of cacti along the way. Several vernal pools at the summit that usually have grass or cactus growing in them. There is definitely poison ivy in the SNA, but I have not seen any along the main summit route.
