This is a mostly dirt trail with some boardwalk sections along the lower areas near the lakes. It is not completely flat - there are enough hills to make it interesting, but they aren't very long, steep, or difficult compared to many other trails you may find in other regions. The trail is mostly shaded and very popular, though it's rare that you have to step off trail to allow someone else to pass. The trail can be used for cross country skiing in the winter. It is an excellent place to go that's not far from the cities.

Occasional deer and small animals can be spotted along the shores, and birds frequent the many types of trees and flowers in the park. This trail runs along some lakes where you can see turtles, fish, and frogs.
