Description
This trail extends from
Brandon Trail at a ridgetop just south of the Marciel Road day-use area to
Honker Bay Trail at the western end of Anthony Chabot Family Campground. If you begin this trail at its junction with
Brandon Trail (free parking to the north along
Brandon Trail at the day-use area), you may wish to enjoy the view to the west and to make use of the bench provided for that purpose. Travel down the slope on this trail, which is wide dirt road in this area. Continue past the end of
Live Oak Trail and then past the campground's entrance kiosk. You'll travel through a utility area for a short distance. Keep an eye out for a trail marker post ahead of you.
Here, the trail becomes a narrow singletrack multiple-use trail. Remember the trail sharing rules: All other trail users yield to horses; bicycles yield to all other trail users. The trail continues downhill past campsites, then reaches paved Marciel Road, the campground's main vehicle road, at a crosswalk. Cross in the crosswalk and continue past the wood gate on the far side. The trail continues downhill. Sightlines (how far you can see ahead) become shorter, so cyclists should be especially careful and all trail users should remain alert. Soon the trail drops into a gully and climbs out to the west end of the vehicle road. There is an information panel here.
Honker Bay Trail continues to the right.
