Family Friendly This trail includes a summit goal, great views, a short easy hike with bridges and rock features. Did I mention that there is a picnic and playground at the trailhead?

This trail is private and only open to the residents of Burland Ranchettes and their guests. The mountain, Weakland-Fawks Park at the trailhead and the foot trail are owned and maintained by the Burland Homeowners Association ( burlandhomeowners.org/).

Description

The hike to the summit of Mount Bailey is an excellent route for families, or when added onto a longer day. Youngsters will surely enjoy the route, as the trail takes off from a covered picnic area and playground!

The trail begins on somewhat mellow grades, but soon enough you'll find yourself ascending switchbacks and steeper terrain. The effort to reach the top remains fairly consistent the whole way. Along the hike, visitors will encounter bridges, and the trail will continue over some rock features that may be slick just after a rain.

The effort required to climb this one brings a lovely reward, as the trail finishes at a flat, rocky peak with fantastic views. There are radio towers on the summit, but please do not disturb them.

Flora & Fauna

Ponderosa pines and some wildflowers can usually be found at the beginning of the trail.
