Family Friendly This is an easy trail with lots of neat trees and plants to observe.

Once the first big snow of the season comes the Forest Service will close the road. Usually October - May.

Description

This trail makes for an easy 1.1 mile hike. This trail begins from a large, dirt parking lot, which makes it easy to access. Along the way, visitors can expect gentle grades, but a consistent uphill incline during the first half of the trail. Once you've started working your way back to the car, you'll have a slightly steeper descent.

The highlight of this loop is its namesake "Chimney Tree" - a gorgeous giant sequoia tree hollowed by fire, creating a "chimney" in the trunk.

Flora & Fauna

You'll be treated to many towering tree species, as well as the ferns that call the understory home.
