Family Friendly Open area where you can see anything from a vole to a beaver to a bald eagle and so many other animals here at the Riverside Natural Area.

Closes at dusk throughout the year and specific areas during controlled burn projects.

Description

This is the first trail out of the trailhead and is a nice rolling hike through a grass prairie. Red-winged blackbirds frequently sing to you as you hike, deer or turkey may be around the next turn or maybe a harrier, and a hawk or kestrel will be flying overhead.

The colors of the grasses and flowers are breathtaking during the seasons of the year and can be enjoyed by all. You can hike Trail 1 by itself or pick up Trail 2 and head deeper into the Riverside Natural Area for even more natural beauty.

Flora & Fauna

Various milkweed plants as well as prairie forbs.
