Description

This mostly gentle trail is a great way to move from the Lower Mountain Village to the St. Sophia gondola while keeping your feet on the ground. An outing starting in the Lower Mountain Village will be a steady climb, but the incredible scenery around you is a great distraction!

This trail can be taken from either direction or as a round trip out and back. The trailhead at the base of the Gondola in the Lower Mountain Village is located in between the gondola and the bottom of the bike park.

From this trailhead, you start your climb and cut into the trees. The trail will veer to the left, and you enter the trees under the gondola line and continue to follow the trail to the left, where you'll see where the trail enters the forest on the right. Proceed from that point up the gentle switchbacks through a beautiful aspen forest, weaving upwards. You'll encounter a handful of signs with arrows that indicate you can take either direction, and while they criss cross one another, you'll end up at the top of the gondola. Once you reach the top there is an option of taking the gondola back down to your starting point. If you would like a longer time to admire the scenery, simply return the way that you came.

The trailhead at the top of the gondola can be accessed by taking a hard left once you make your way out of the Gondola St. Sophia station. The trail is very visible from this point.
