Description
To access the trailhead, start from the parking area and continue behind the gate down Forest Road 68 along the
Brook Trail Connector. At 0.1 miles, the
Bolles Trail continues straight, while the
Brook Trail turns right. Right before the Forest Road crosses over Claybank Brook (bridge), the
Brook Trail turns right. A short ways in, the trail makes a sharp right uphill; this area can be tricky to pick up the trail again. At 0.9 miles, the trail comes to a junction with
Bickford Trail (on left). The trail becomes steeper as it starts to steer away from Claybank Brook. The trail crosses the brook a few times. There is one area (2nd crossing) where it is difficult to see the trail on the other bank.
After the stream crossings, the trail gets much steeper and rockier. Right below the junction with
Bee Line Trail, there is a steep slab of rock. It is practically impossible to get over this in the wintertime. Take care when descending; I've slipped on this rock a few times. The remainder of this trail to the summit is very rough with poor footing. I don't recommend taking on any of this portion of the trail, above
Bee Line Trail, during periods of snow or ice.
