Description

The River Route Nature Trail is a singletrack trail which meanders along a ridge parallel to the Apple River. Bridges cross a few small creeks along the way. An observation deck offers a view of the river below.

It should be noted that there are several felled trees and debris across the path at points which present obstacles to a leisurely hike.

Also, there are many undocumented trails going of in all directions made either by animals or exuberant teenagers (it's unclear which is the culprit). Stay on the main trail as these short spurs generally lead to the river below with steep descents and dead ends that don't make the climb back up worth it.

So does it, or doesn't it? Actually the trail does end a little farther up.
