“A trail through birch forest with great views of the Ester Dome area.
”
Family Friendly
Shorter in miles and easy terrain to navigate, this is good route for the whole family.
Locals ask that you don't use the trails during break-up season (mid April to early May) as it creates muddy ruts that stick around for the rest of the year.
Overview
A short loop through birch forest with views of the Ester Dome area. Lots of switchbacks makes the elevation gain fairly easy.
Description
This trail begins about 1.5 miles up Ester Dome Road, if you're making your way from Sheep Creek. Look for the pullout on the left side of the road.
This route is the shorter of two options through the valley--follow the yellow blazes for a 2.8 mile route. The trail has a lot of switchbacks, but it's a pretty easy outing. The shorter distance makes this a great route for beginners, and the tame terrain is great for all members of the family.
