Description

The Short Loop or "Campground Trail" is a doubletrack consisting of a mixture or grass, gravel, and hard pack with roots. Campsites are just along the east side of the trail. The eastern leg of the trail is hilly with exposed roots, but the balance is a good surface. The trail can be very muddy in the wet spring season though.

Interpretive signs can be found along the trail to educate visitors about the unique history and geology of the area.

Flora & Fauna

A myriad of mammals, birds, butterflies and insects inhabit the high quality oak woodlands at Marengo Ridge including great-horned owls, wild turkeys, Eastern Kingbirds, Broad-winged hawks and numerous songbirds.
