First time visitors often have a hard time navigating to the trailhead. From Interstate 94, take exit 153 for Mandan, turn south, onto Mandan Avenue, proceed 0.3 mile, then turn left onto Division Street NE, contain 0.1 mile, turn left onto River Drive NE, go under the Interstate and turn right onto a gravel road. Continue to the parking lot at the end of the road. This area is locally known as “The Car Bodies.”

This trail is in the Missouri River State Natural Area which is managed by the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department in cooperation with the ND Department of Transportation, Morton County Parks and the City of Mandan. The trail provides shoreline fishing access and access to additional loop trails for longer hikes.

The trail is a popular place for dog walking and is open to mountain biking and cross-country skiing.
