Overview

This trail above Wanaka begin through sheep yards and leads you on a spectacular ridge with great photo opportunities. You can keep climbing this steep ridge to Roy's Peak summit for an amazing 360-degree panoramic view of lakes and mountains.

Description

The first half is a path through two sheep yards. You'll have to pass four fences. There are many shortcuts along this part. Once you get the ridge, you can hike down along it to take good pictures. Keep climbing (the trail will get steeper) to the top to see the other side of the mountain and get an amazing view. You'll feel so proud when you'll touch the lovely antenna at the summit! Go to the white thing after the antenna to see deeper in the valley.

Steep, exposed and very windy. Bring trekking poles. Near the top you can go up the ridge-line, or continue walking. Don't do the ridge-line. — 3h 30m
