Family Friendly Short with berries and elk along the way, this can be a memorable trail for kids of all ages.

Description

Though short in length, this trail features some of the parks highlights, and your group is sure to make many memories hiking down this trail.

The route follows the fading trace of an old skid road, and is wide enough to navigate with multiple people abreast. The trail does make a rather steep descent to the beach, but even so, try to slow down to take in your surroundings. In season, huckleberries can make for a memorable snack, and the shade of the alders above will be perfect during the summer.

Once you reach the beach, take your time to admire the views of the ocean.

Flora & Fauna

Hikers in this area will appreciate the opportunity to observe banana slugs, nibble huckleberries, and wonder at large alders on the way down to the beach. However, the real highlights might be waiting for you. Enormous Roosevelt elk frequent the beach, and you're likely to see them here. Additionally, many coastal birds call the beach home.
