Unlike the popular, well-kept trails of Seahurst Park to the south, Salmon Creek Ravine is quiet and mostly unimproved.

The main trail starts near the ends of Seahurst Park Service Road and North Seahurst Connector. The beginning can be difficult to spot. Look just right of a yellow fire hydrant near where 16th Avenue SW curves into SW 131st Street, next to a neighborhood sign. A narrow singletrack descends down into the green space. This initial portion of trail is poorly maintained, and natural debris is a frequent hazard. Watch for close-growing plants, roots, low branches, and a few fallen trees. The dirt track is still navigable, but it can be a rough ride for the first quarter mile or so.

Eventually the path will come to the first of several forks. Head right to stick with the route shown here, as the sidetracks generally all lead to private homes or neighborhoods. After the split, the trail improves greatly, widening to doubletrack in some parts and softening to more cushioned dirt and pine needles.

As the trail begins a counterclockwise circle around a ravine, keep left and then right at the next two splits. The main path isn't hard to follow, as it's generally the wider of any two options. Soon, the sounds of a creek below can be heard. Some muddy sections will need to be crossed as the trail begins a steep descent and the creek comes into sight.

The route winds back and forth a couple more times before reaching its low point and ending at a T intersection with Salmon Creek Service Road. Turning left here can make a loop back to the start on neighborhood streets; going right eventually leads to a rough neighborhood.
