Much of the west side of the gulch has been a recent park expansion for the City of Mukilteo. The city plans to make significant changes to the area to make it more accessible to multiple user groups. As of 2015 the trails remain in a pre-development phase.

Trails are multi-use and traffic should be expected in both directions. Construction and trail maintenance require permission from City of Mukilteo. The center of the Gulch holds the BNSF train line, access to the train line is prohibited.

Description

The BNSF trail is a basic gravel doubletrack along the BNSF train line. The first part of the trail is lined by many black berry bushes which eventually give way to tree cover as the trail borders the Japanese Gulch Creek.

Starting from the northern end of the park, the trail is a gradual uphill for its duration. Though the trail is never terribly steep, it is steep enough to be somewhat strenuous. Luckily, there is dense tree cover providing shade.
