This trail starts by heading up a slight hill from a small parking lot at the end of County road FA. As you crest that hill a wide view will open up of Mississippi River valley to the north of La Crosse. For the first section you make your way along the top of a ridge and if you look down you'll see where the mining was stopped in this old abandoned quarry. After the ridge you drop to an old gravel service road and loop back to the top of the quarry.
