Overview

The Mountains-to-Sea Trail follows Eno River from West Point on the Eno at Roxboro Road/US-501 to Eno State Park at Pump Station. The trail follows Eagle Trail in West Point on the Eno Park. After crossing Guess Road, it picks up the Laurel Bluffs Trail (East) in Eno River State Park.

Description

From the parking area, cross the Eno River on the big footbridge and turn left. After crossing Crooked Creek at the dam, the trail follows the river upstream. The blazes are white for the MST and Blue for the Eagle Trail. Since the trails overlap in this portion, the blazes should follow each other.

At Guess Road, cross under the bridge, head up to the road and cross the bridge, and then pick up the Laurel Bluffs Trail (East) in Eno River State Park (Yellow Blaze). The trail continues for another 2.5 miles along the river to the ruins of the old Durham Pump Station.

Once you reach the pump station, you can retrace your steps to make it back home.

Flora & Fauna

Mountain laurel on the south side of the river bloom in early to mid-May.

History & Background

West Point on the Eno has several restored old buildings, including the West Point Mill. Guess Mill ruins and the Pump Station Ruins are along the trail in Eno River State Park.
