The Freeman Lake Trail can be accessed via Freeman Lake Park, Ring Road, or Pear Orchard Road trailheads. This trail can be traveled either clockwise or counter-clockwise. The trail offers access to tons of shade from forested areas on the east side of the lake. The trail also has access to short spurs that can add to your adventure.

On the south end of the lake, you cross a dam that offers a great view of the lake and an almost constant westerly breeze. The only rugged part of the trail that needs serious improvement and attention is on the southwest end of the lake. At this point, there is about 1/10 of a mile of seriously eroded terrain that one could easily turn an ankle on. Also, this part would make it difficult for one to push a stroller. Overall, this trail is heavily used during the warmer months.

Sites to see along the way are the causeway area at the north end of the lake, the dam at the south, and an 1800s homestead that is within Freeman Lake Park.
