Description
Blue Creek Bay Recreation Site is located six miles east of Coeur d'Alene in the Wallace Forest Conservation Area. There is a picnic area and non-motorized boat launch at the trailhead.
The trails starts fairly level for the first 3/4 of a mile. Be ready for a steep climb after crossing E. Yellowstone Trail just before the mile mark. This is the steepest section of the trail - after this, the climb continues more gradually. At about 1.5 miles, you'll come to an intersection for the loop portion of the trail - you can go either left or right and will continue to climb to the high point of the hike at about 2 miles. From here enjoy a nice downhill cruise back to the junction and head back down to the trailhead the way you came.
Flora & Fauna
Ponderosa pine, Douglas fir, grand fir, western larch, western white pine, western redcedar, and western hemlock. Wild turkeys, whitetail deer, coyotes, bears, meadowlarks, and woodpeckers.
