Family Friendly From the Frederickson Lane trailhead, it's a great hike all the way to the Stewartville town site.

Description

From the Somersville parking area, the road starts a gradual ascent through an oak-studded valley getting steeper as it tops a ridge. Past a gate, it crosses the Ridge Trail then drops steeply into the Sand Creek valley and the Stewartville town site. It's a challenging ascent coming back up the ridge.

Once past Stewartville, it's mostly flat as it follows Sand Creek all the way to the parking area on Frederickson Lane.

Hiked this trail backwards as the first section of a loop with the ridge trail. Good trail. Nice and wide, couple steep hills. 3.9mi
