Description

Access is via the Black Ridge trail which starts at the Visitor Center. Follow this for .5 to the junction with Fruita Dugway. Take a right, and drop fairly quickly down rocky terrain with some steep dropoffs and good views. Once past a man made pond and construction area, you may bail out early to the paved road if needed when the trail passes close to a switchback, or continue on down and through some old barbed wire fences and descend a total of 1200' to the valley floor where you can connect to the K1 - Kodel's Canyon Area . An out and back to the valley floor from the Visitor Center was 7 miles and 1500' of climbing by my watch.
