Description
Coming in at a whopping 128 miles, the General Crook Trail in its entirety is a large undertaking, and not for the faint of heart. The trail parallels the Mogollon Rim, a 400 mile geologic feature that marks the edge of the Colorado Plateau. The trail meanders between the cliff edge and the the Scenic Highway (FS road 300). As the rim draws its own visitors, working your way along the trail will bring you both beautiful views, and auto traffic. The trail is dusty due to car traffic, and its a good idea to be prepared for this.
Most visitors choose to use this trail in segments, and we used this portion to connect the See Canyon Trail with the Horton Springs Trail. Due to the sun exposure and high volume of car traffic, this trail is less pleasant than others in the area.
