A scenic loop with gradual grades, a nice pond and the option to shorten.
Description
This is a roughly two-mile loop trail through beautiful mixed forest and meadows. There's a cutoff (
Alpine Pond Trail Cutoff) roughly midway through that allows you to cut the length in half. The lower half of the trail has outstanding views of the "breaks." The upper portion of the trail meanders through meadows full of native wildflowers, stands of spruce-fir and aspen, and past ancient deposits of volcanic materials.
Alpine pond, a beautiful spring-fed pond, is located about halfway through the loop. This is a great place to relax and have a snack during your hike. A small stand of bristlecone pines can also be viewed from this trail.
Flora & Fauna
