Description

While many trails in the park maintain Revolutionary history, this short connector trail was created during the Civil War as an access road to move soldiers and goods to the front lines. As the park developed, this trail was converted into a bridle path, and the utility of the trail transitioned into what it is today, a way to appreciate the woods of the Potomac.

The trail is gentle and sloping, and is generally wide enough to travel side by side. Its main use is to connect two popular trails, the Western Ridge Trail and the Black Horse Trail \(Central\). The whole trail will be shaded, and the path is a combination of crushed gravel and the natural soil.

Flora & Fauna

White oak and tulip trees shade the path.
