A nice easy trail with lots of plants and a small stream.
Description
This is an alternate way to reach the ridge if you start from the parking lot, or an alternate way to get back to your car if you've just completed the
Pinnacle Trail. It can also make an easy loop if you want to avoid the steep area near the top of
The Pinnacle.
There are several distinct areas of forest and a small stream along this trail. Follow the white triangle blazes. Intersections are well-signed, but just in case, if you are returning from
The Pinnacle, going downhill, turn left when you see a road ahead, this is where the Turnback Trail meets and follows the Fern Trail. After a few hundred yards, turn left again at the sign that explains why it's called the Fern Trail. From there its an easy cruise back to the parking lot.
More information about the area can be found
here.
Have fun!
