Description

Originally built as infrastructure for a now-defunct residential community, this area's trails remain as "scenery highways" for those willing to get out and experience them.

This trail is the outer of the two loops located near Blue Mountain Lake.

Starting at the Blue Mountain Lake Parking Area, head north along the trail until you reach a trail junction. At the junction, take the immediate left to travel west along the trail, climbing gently for a few hundred meters before the trail gradient increases considerably.

Continue along the trail through rolling terrain packed with dense, mixed hardwood forests. Keep an eye out for white oak, red maple, shagbark hickory, chestnut, and northern red oak. As you can imagine, visiting this trail in the autumn allows visitors to experience the full splendor of these eastern hardwood forests as they erupt in fiery fall colors.

For those wishing to shorten their trip or experience the lake close up, visitors have the option to take the Blue Mtn Lake N.Cutoff down from the high ground to the lake's shores. From here, visitors can travel along the Blue Mountain Lake Trail (Inner Loop) heading south to reach the first junction described here, near the parking area.

Flora & Fauna

White oak, red maple, shagbark hickory, chestnut, and northern red oak can be seen along the trail.

Clean bathrooms near parking. Nice eating spot on rocks. Easy trail. Fallen trees.
