Family Friendly A flat easy out-and-back with interpretive signs, pictographs, and ruts from Oregon Trail Travelers.

Description

From the trailhead, travel west along the top of the basalt cliffs with views of the Barber Valley and Boise Foothills. The flat, even trail can be connected with the Rim Trail or Basalt Trail to create a number of great loop hikes.

Oregon Trail travelers will descend into the Boise River Valley from this rim using the Kelton Ramp, listed on the National Register of Historic Places; a rock cut through the basalt 500 ft NW of Highway 21. Look for pictographs along the ramp, ruts from Oregon Trail travelers, and interpretive signage.
