Description
Always check
trinitytrailriders.org for the current trail status.
This trail is on Corps land on the west side of Lavon Lake and goes through meadows and woodlands.
This is a very popular segment of the entire Trinity Trail, since it includes both woodlands, meadows, in addition to views of the lake from many spots on the trail. The first mile to the picnic table is the easiest, since it is the flattest section. After the picnic table, the trail alternately climbs and falls, as it skirts the Corps land boundary and follows around the lowlands for each inlet from the lake. At the three mile marker is perhaps the best view of the lake, with a meadow falling away below you and the dam to the south and the Lucas Rd bridges to the north. This segment of the Trinity Trail ends at the Collin Park access gate and picnic table.
To continue south on the next segment of the Trail, you cross the Collin Park access gate and go south on Rolling Meadows Rd for 1/2 mile to reach the easement path through Collin Park. Follow that marked path through Collin Park and out the south side to continue (see
Trinity Trail - East Fork Trailhead to Collin Park for that trail description).
