Description

Spent the night at Marmot Lake and decided to go over Rangers Pass to avoid the lengthy O'Neil Pass Trail. Rangers Pass is a bushwack, no trails or ducks. The approach from Lacrosse Lake is steep but relatively easy. Head for the smaller notch. The view is spectacular. The other side, down to hook up with O'Neil Pass Trail is super steep, loose scree, and snow. Be careful and patience. It would be very easy to fall on rock or slide on snow. I spent a lot of time on my butt or backward crabwalking on the snow using my trekking poles to dig in. Well worth the pain, though. So beautiful!
