Family Friendly Picnic tables, a beach, and a great trail to explore.

No glass or smoking on the beach.

Description

This trailhead is a dirt parking lot that leads to Salt Pond (a sandy beach) as well as Drunk Bay and to Ram Head. This a wonderful place to spend the whole day as there is usually a local vendor on most days near the parking lot, pit toilets and trash cans near the beach, as well as picnic tables spread out to enjoy a meal. The beach provides shady areas which is also a perk on hot days.

Once past the beach, you'll continue on right near the waters edge for a while. The trail then goes into the bush and pops out at a rock beach. Continue on until you see large cairns built marking the correct trail that will take you up to the point. At this point there is no shade to speak of, so come prepared for intense sun and heat - although the wind is a nice relief most the time. The trail comes to a dead end at a tall rocky cliff with spectacular views! Don't forget the camera, this is an unforgettable spot!!

Best time to complete other trails is in the early morning or after the hottest part of the day.

Flora & Fauna

Woody and bushy shrub-like plants scatter the landscape with several varieties of cactus. The foliage is much drier on this side of the island.

The trail is unmarked and an offline map is helpful.
