Family Friendly
This trail is beautiful from the get-go, and you can turn around at any point yet still feel as though you saw something worthwhile. Hence why bringing kids on this trail is great.
No glass or smoking on any National Park beach.
Description
The Leinster Bay Trailhead shares the same parking lot for the well known Annaburg Plantation ruins. The trail starts down near the water and is marked by a couple signs that can give you information about where the trail leads and what kind of underwater creatures you can see snorkeling in the area.
Hiking to and from is a relatively easy, smooth trail that is breezy most all the time since it is right along the water's edge. It is just under a mile long from the parking lot to Leinster Bay. Bring your snorkel gear, a towel, and lunch! You can make a full day if you see the plantation, snorkel the bay and make your way out to
Waterlemon Cay! Waterlemon is known by locals to be one of the most beautiful, vibrant places to snorkel! If you're lucky, you'll see octopus, and will most likely see gliding sea turtles!
There are pit toilets in the parking lot, but there are no places to buy any type of snacks or beverages so plan to bring your own. Trash receptacles are located in the parking lot so please pack out any trash you have and throw it away at the end of the day. Help keep our beaches beautiful for you and others coming to enjoy this place!
Flora & Fauna
Mongoose are very present at the bay and over on the point towards
Waterlemon Cay. Make sure to put all food away in your bag before taking a snorkel or you may not have your snacks when you get back! If you have a love for birds, you will most likely see a variety of water birds and maybe even a mangrove cuckoo.
