Description
This multi-use trail is mainly a narrow singletrack that traverses somewhat steep, rocky terrain. Trailhead parking lot is located off of the Lewis Road entrance. Take the road to the right as you enter the park. The trailhead has modern restrooms and drinking water.
This trail takes its time as it wanders and climbs up to the ridgetop. Along the way, the trail passes by a couple of flint quarries. Stop off at the bench and take a breather to enjoy the view of the surrounding hills and the river valley below.
The Flint Quarry Trail follows the ridgetop before meeting up with the
Chubb Trail. At this point you can return to the Flint Quarry Trailhead by going to the left on
Chubb Trail or you can head for the prairie and Meramec River to the north by taking a right on
Chubb Trail.
The Flint Quarry Trail will take you through upland woodlands, cedar glades, and past seeps, creeks and rock outcroppings.
