The Meramec Trail is a 1.9-mile paved trail which starts at the first parking lot on the left when coming into the park. The trail traces the edge of the model airplane field where gas-powered plane models take over the sky.

After the trail moves past the airfield, it follows along a small creek which flows year-round due to seepage and runoff from the surrounding area. The wetland vegetation found along the creek is quite diverse. Spurring away from the creek, the trail cuts northeast through some open woods.

Here, the trail connects with an old road paralleling the Meramec River as it heads to the west. This road was severely damaged during the 1993 & 1995 floods. The river bank here is unstable and steep. The trail does provide views of the Meramec River but gaining access to fish would be difficult. The trail terminates near the archery range which is a short distance back to the starting point.
