Description

This trail can only be accessed by hiking part of the Moonshiners Trail. Park at family picnic area and look for the Moonshiners Trail as it runs downhill to the right of the bathhouse. Hike the first 3/4 mile of Moonshiners Trail and look for the Rocky Road Trail intersection on the left. Rocky Road Trail will re-intersect with the Moonshiners Trail at its conclusion, and from there, and a short 1/4 mile jaunt back up to the trailhead.

The trails are well-blazed. Trail surface is mostly good singletrack with a few short rocky sections that can be slick when wet. The total distance of this trail will be closer to four miles when you take into account the sections of the Moonshiners Trail you need to hike in order to access it.

Flora & Fauna

Rhododendron in the spring, and colors in the fall. Still a few groves of mature hemlocks to see before they all die off.
