Description
The trail climbs steeply as it departs north from PA 36. There are built rock steps that help make this climb more bearable than others steep sections along the MST. The trail then meanders to the east for about 5 km (3 miles) to where it meets Maple Run. It parallels this scenic waterway for 3 km (2 miles) to Maple Run Road.
Up to this point, the tread is easy to follow but can be very muddy in the spring and after rains. Just prior to reaching the road, you'll pass a campsite, BUT because this is on State Game Lands, you would need to request permission in advance to camp here.
From this point north, the trail mostly follows logging roads to a parking area near PA 164. The last 1 km (.6 mile) is blazed singletrack through the woods to PA 164.
