Family Friendly Similar to the other trails in this area, the Javelina West Wash Trail makes for a great excursion that families can venture out on for whatever distance suits them.

Description

To access Javelina West Wash Trail from the Desert Ecology Trailhead, head west on Cactus Forest Drive for a very short distance and enter the main wash. Once in the main wash, head southwest for approximately 50 yards until the wash forks. The smaller fork to the west is the Javelina West Wash Trail.

From this point, the trail continues west for a short distance before turning to the south. The entire trail is characterized by soft sand, so be prepared. In addition, the wash/trail is narrow and depending on the season, might be overgrown in places. Along the way, you'll be treated to a variety of plant life growing along the wash. Animals also use this trail, and you are more likely to see animal tracks than people tracks.

The trail continues for a little over two miles before ending at a junction with Cactus Forest Trail.
