Description

The 'Iliahi Trail is also known as the Sandalwood Trail.

Look for this trail to the right of the Volcano House, across the street from the visitor center. Along the trail, you'll hike through `Iliahi (sandalwood) which grows alongside other native and non-native trees. Your senses will be excited along the way as heat from the steam vents warms your skin and views across the steaming floor of Klauea Caldera and the erupting Halema`uma`u Crater flood your vision. All the while, you'll remain fairly comfortable along this pleasant, mostly-shaded trail.

Flora & Fauna

Sandalwood and other native rainforest flora dominate this trail.
