Description

Located on the western edge of the park, the Bert Creek Trail is most commonly used to access Sphagnum Bog at Crater Springs. The bog is technically a fen or wet meadow full of fragile bog dwelling plants. Be sure to be extreme care while hiking in this delicate ecosystem.

The Bert Creek Trail starts from NF 660 and continues east toward its junction with the Bald Crater Loop Trail. You'll hike through mountain hemlock and shasta red fir which make up the forest at the park boundary.

Flora & Fauna

Mountain hemlock and shasta red fir. A unique mix of bog-dwelling plants and mosses around Sphagnum Bog.
