Description
Access to this trail can be found by way of a small gravel turnout located 1.3 miles from the entrance to Pinnacle Valley Road from East Rim Drive. The turnout is located on the north side of the road.
The trail itself is pleasant and rolling for its 3-mile duration. A glacial history is responsible for the rolling nature of this trail, and there is very little net elevation change. Deposits known as moraines and lateral moraines are the results of thousands of years of glaciation. As glaciers move, they deposit sediment at their edges, and at their terminus. These features are still visible in the park today.
As you climb and descend various moraines, you'll enjoy the shade of fir and hemlock trees. Be aware that this trail sees less maintenance than others in the area, and this path might require a bit of route finding. Either way, come prepared for roots and rocks, and expect to find some washed out areas.
Flora & Fauna
Various types of pine shade the trail.
