Family Friendly Kids can definitely handle this trail's gentle grades and moderate length.

Description

Take the paved Park road to the Peaceful Valley Ranch area and turn right onto a gravel road. Continue to the end of the road where you'll find a parking area. The trail begins by going through a prairie dog town and continues to the southeast 3.6 miles to the paved Park road.

Hiking this direction is going upstream in the Paddock Creek watershed, so it is a gradual uphill with many undulations as you cross the (usually dry) tributary drainages. The trail crosses Paddock Creek several times, so check at the Park's Visitors Center regarding conditions. There may be water in the creek in the spring or after rainstorms.

Flora & Fauna

Bison, white-tailed deer, wild horses, and wildflowers.

Hiked after it rained the day prior and it was pretty bad... got lost from the main trail a free times and the creeks/trail were extremely flooded.

Saw bison grazing on the slopes. The fall grass was beautiful with orange and brown tones.
