Travel along the Painted Desert Rim Trail for a transcendant experience through a landscape that seems to belong on another planet.

Starting at the Painted Desert Rim Parking Area near Tawa Point, head out on the short Tawa Point Trail to access this route. Follow the winding trail along relatively flat terrain. While the terrain underfoot is reasonably flat, the same cannot be said for what lies just off trail. Turn your gaze to the surrounding hills for breathtaking views of red, blue, and purple-tinted badlands.

Be sure to bring your camera along on the journey, as this trail presents numerous opportunities for stellar photography.

Upon reaching the trail's end, visitors can either return the way they came, or continue along the Kachina Point Overlook Trail for an extended journey.
