Description

This is a relatively easy Sierra trail. The route is partly shaded, though the final climb up to Silliman Pass is rocky and exposed. The stone stairs near the end give it that consequential Middle Earth feeling as though Gandalf himself should be leading the way. What a view it is from the top!

Fill your water bottles at Ranger Lake at the 3.1-mile mark, about 1.9 miles from the top. You have a ways to drop on the Twin Lakes Trail before you reach a reliable water source.
