The Hotel Creek Trailhead is located directly north of Cedar Grove Village near the intersection of Northside Drive and Motor Nature Trail. From the trailhead, Hotel Creek Trail switchbacks its way up the north wall of Kings Canyon. The trail climbs through manzanita and becomes interspersed with ponderosa pine as it opens to views of Cedar Grove along the way. At about 2 miles is the turn for Cedar Grove Overlook Spur. Beyond there, the trail continues on gentler terrain, making a traverse through sunny forest until it meets the Lewis Creek Trail.
