Description
The trailhead is located 1.1 miles from the start of the
Thomas Divide Trail on the Galbraith Creek Road. The trail loses 500 feet of elevation in just 0.9 miles, so get ready for a lot of hiking downhill, or climbing if you come from
Indian Creek Trail.
The trail starts to descend from the
Thomas Divide Trail and crosses a shallow creek via a rock hop. Then the trail descends through a stream bed that can be slippery. When the trail arrives at Indian Creek, a 25 foot log allows the trail to cross the creek with relative ease. The trail finally levels out for the last 0.1 mile as it approaches the
Indian Creek Trail.
A left turn onto
Indian Creek Trail brings you to Deep Creek Campground in 1.2 miles. If you turn right, you can hike along
Indian Creek Trail toward Campsite #46.
More information on this trail and others can be found in
Hiking Trails of the Smokies.
Flora & Fauna
Flowering dogwoods and mountain laurel can be found along the trail.
Several varieties of wildflowers can be found in the cool coves along this trail.
