Bring bear spray.
Description
This popular trail breaks off of the
Ptarmigan Trail and continues through trees with intermittent views that gradually break out to incredible views of the serrated, knife-edge ridgeline of the Ptarmigan Wall. Flowers bloom late into the summer with the notable beargrass being particularly stunning. Iceberg Creek creates a waterfall visible from across the valley.
You work your way along the Ptarmigan Wall towards the towering walls of the cirque. As you get closer, you enter into flower-covered meadows and a little pocket lake that makes you think you may be there. You continue along the trail and go over a little rise and the lake comes into view. Icebergs float in the lake throughout most summers. The vertical walls rise dramatically from the lake's opposite shores.
Brave souls jump into the water and swim to icebergs for bragging rights.
